Transitional Kindergarten Lesson Plans Made Easy with the Quirkles

Lauren Cook Teaching Tips

For many of you Transitional Kindergarten is now included in your afterschool programs.  While we know this can be challenging to an already full schedule and lesson planning, the Quirkles Science and Literacy Series can certainly help you with all of these demands.

The Quirkles are a great way to integrate literacy and hands-on science.  First, educators will read the stories with whimsical illustrations and vocabulary builders while the children are transformed to an imaginary planet called Quirksville where learning is fun and hands-on.  Each book has four hands-on experiments that go along with it.  Learning has never been more fun! And the best news…everything is already done for you. NO PREP NEEDED! The teacher guides have the experiments, extended activities, and writing activities for you to utilize; even the questions to ask the students are provided for you. Science kits are available too. You can literally receive the curriculum one day and start the next. How easy is that?

Five Reasons Quirkles are Perfect for Transitional Kindergartners:

The Quirkles:

  • Through language activities engage children in predicting, problem solving, and seeking new information
  • Attach meaning to new words and real life connections
  • Allow children to negotiate, compromise, and cooperate with other peers while engaging in small group science activities
  • Build a science foundation while developing a love for learning
  • Create an environment that children will want to come back to again and again…a Quirkles legacy begins

While we know we certainly cannot solve all the problems that educators face on a daily basis, we CAN make it easier for you with premade curriculum that educators and kids will equally love.

Feel free to reach out to us and we will be happy to share how you, too, can transform your program into the great planet of Quirksville.
